Loving Couples Loving Children (LCLC) programs strengthen families through innovative, effective, research-based curriculum and support designed specifically for community-based organizations already working with couples and families.

An LCLC curriculum, consisting of a series of weekly workshops, combines multimedia, small group discussions and specific skill-based exercises to create an engaging learning experience where people feel respected, listened to and understood. LCLC workshops provide participants with:

- Tools and skills that will improve their relationships with each other and their children

- A respectful environment to support individual learning

- Opportunities to explore and build on personal experiences and efforts

Each workshop, focusing on a single over-arching content area, includes:

- DVD: A brief, module-specific filmed ?talk show?. Talk shows feature real couples from across the country discussing relevant issues and real stories.

- Discussion: A short group discussion about the issues presented in the talk show. Open discussion allows participants to speak about their own experiences, encouraging strong community building within the group and lowering attrition.

- Information: Facilitators share thematically relevant information with the group. All information is based entirely on research but is relayed in an appropriate, easy to understand, personal way.

- Exercises: Couples spend time learning a new skill relevant to the workshop content area. Exercises are fun, engaging methods of teaching couples concrete tools they can incorporate into their daily lives. (Author abstract modified)
